Dear community, I really need some help.
I'm experiencing micro-stuttering and a 20–50 FPS drop whenever I open OBS Studio with any game.
The strange part is that the stutters only affect the game — the recorded or streamed video looks fine, with only around 1–3% average frame drops.
I've tried everything I could think of:
– Set OBS process priority to high
– Tweaked encoding settings, Hook Rate etc.
– Changed various output options
But nothing has fixed the issue.
My current recording settings are: NVENC (P4), CQP 18, 0s, Preset: Ultra Low Latency, Two Passes, High
Video: 2560x1440 @ 160 FPS, Average CPU load 3-5% while streaming.
System Specs:
– RTX 4080
– AMD Ryzen 7800X3D
– Win 11
What’s really confusing:
I tried using Streamlabs OBS (SLOBS), and I get no stuttering at all with the same setup, and no FPS drops at all.
I really wish to use OBS as my main platform.
Any ideas what could be causing this in OBS Studio? Would appreciate any tips!
