Question / Help OBS Mac (/General Streaming) Performance so bad I can't stream.

Hi guys,

Basically to cut a long story short, I want to stream on Picarto.tv and it's pretty much just drawing on Photoshop, so nothing totally draining. Most of the time I do a multi-stream with my sister (same house).
Up until around spring last year it was great streaming together, hardly any lag, quality was good and generally no issues for both of us.
Suddenly my sibling's computer (2009 Mac OSX) streaming was unbearable, extreme lagging up to 30 MINUTES behind, dropped frames, etc.. New computer was bought in summer (2015 MBP) the problems still persisted.
It started affecting mine too, and now neither computers can stream because it just isn't worth it with the horrible performance.

Btw, I've tried just about everything off the sticky - lowered bitrate, ethernet, different streaming services (livestream, ustream, hitbox etc.)
1 week ago I got a new ISP and router, tried countless times since and it's the same deal.
I honestly can't come up with anything else that could cause this suddenly (and persistently). As far as I know there was no change with my isp or anything when the issues started.

Don't know if this is also related, but recently with Flash Media Live Encoder the stream stops by itself or disconnects after only a few seconds. I mainly use OBS but I've tried FMLE w/ CamTwist too.

Thanks so much in advance if anyone has any more ideas for this annoying problem!

If you can boot into Windows, try running the Twitch test (you'll need to create a Twitch account) on Medium for your region and post a screenshot of the results:

Thx for your reply, included the screenshot below. I actually live in ON Canada, not sure if that makes a difference (?).

The quality area tells us what is going on. To stream to Picarto, you only need 200-800kbps, which your connection has, so you're good there. The issue is that your quality is 0. That means that your internet connection is not reliably delivering packets. This is a HUGE issue when using rtmp to stream with (which OBs and most of the internet uses).

(Also before you ask, there is currently no other way to stream to Picarto).

The best thing to do is to contact your ISP and let them know what is happening. They are the only one who can fix the issue for you.
