Bug Report OBS Live Streaming Issue

Hello,

I normally have been using X-Split for live streaming my gaming on Twitch.tv. I currently have the free version, which produces low quality in every way possible. I noticed that they are having a deal right now for a pretty cheap 3-months, which I was going to look into until a friend of mine told me to look into OBS. I have only heard positive things about it and have seen the results, and I am impressed considering it's in its Alpha phase while being free and supporting the same functionality and features.

Since I could not seem to get the software to work for me, my friend referred me to this link to go through and get it set up: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmes ... _id=372629

It seemed to be a good step by step process and explanation, yet I still was left with the same results.

Every time I try to start live streaming or preview live streams, I run into this error:

Could not create D3D10 device and swap chain. This error can happen for one of the following reasons:

1.) You're using an old or unsupported GPU (some laptop GPU's can also have this issue)
2.) You're running windows vista without the "Platform Update"
3.) I screwed something up somewhere

...well, for #1, I have Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 430 @ 2.27GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.36GHz
My friend told me that it should work fine with streaming especially on OBS...so I am confused as to why it would be #1

#2, I am running Windows 7...so it cannot be #2

#3, I would love to think that this wasn't this issue...I have gotten help from my friend who currently uses it and I went through the step by step process and explanation, read through the forum to see if anyone else has this issue...and I'm still stuck... so I guess, unfortunately, it could be #3 ... or maybe #4? None of the above HELP =P

If there is anyone that could try and run me through solutions to this so I do not have to go and buy X-Split instead, that would be WONDERFUL! ^_^

Thanks in advance

The #1 was about GPU, which is Graphics Card and not CPU (processor). Are you sure that you've got the latest DirectX and your GPU supports it in version 10 or higher?

If you are on a laptop with an Intel integrated GPU...you are probably out of luck.

Also, make sure your DirectX is up to date. There are numerous revisions that aren't put out through windows update (for some stupid god damn reason). Run this: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... aspx?id=35

Also, update your GPU drivers, though as I said if you have an intel GPU you migh be completely out of luck.

I went ahead and ran the link that you suggest for DirectX updating (KrazyTrumpeter05) and...still receiving the same error. Think I'm simply out of luck using this software until I get a new computer then? :( I don't want to have to use X-Split!

If you are on a laptop with an integrated GPU, yes. You could try FFSplit instead, it may work for you and is still a good alternative to Xsplit

well, if I cannot use OBS until I get a new computer...you think buying X-Split is better than anything else for a bit?

You can also try FFSplit. I would not recommend paying for XSplit unless you are a high profile streamer that needs to produce complicated content.
