Question / Help OBS lagging when recording

So I had a weird error come up where it wouldn't let me start up OBS. I searched on the forums and was told to uninstall/reinstall and it fixed it. However, now my recordings lag and come out in really bad quality. To be clear, I'm not streaming at all - only recording. Any ideas?

PC SPECS:

- GTX 970
- 16 GB RAM
- AMD FX-6100

Your CPU is weak for 1080p, so Veryfast is going to have problems. You can still go zero-buffer and Ultrafast preset to get maximum quality, and just re-encode the (very large) recording file later.
