Question / Help OBS lagging but game is running smooth

So im new to OBS but and i just built a new system but when i try to record any games OBS lags and the recordings look like its about 15fps

Ive got most of my games capped at 144 fps to match my refresh rate.

• CPU: Intel Core i5-9600K
• GPU: EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 XC GAMING
• RAM: G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 16GB
• MOBO: Z390M-PRO TUF GAMING
