I've been trying to record some footage of me playing Rust with obs but it seems that when i'm trying to record with nvenc i always get lag and pixelation BUT only after a few minutes of recording . I've tried diffrent methods of recording but none of them seems to works for me . I also tried recording with x264 and no pixelation and lag there but i'd prefer to record my videos with nvenc because it seems that fps in game do not drop drasticaly while recording.
I tried this :

CQP : 18
High Q
Main

CQP:25
Default
Main

CBR : 11k
High Perf.
Main (this one seem to work fine but the quality of the video is not that vibrante )

So guys could you help me figure this thing out ? what is causing this problem ?
My specs :

Ryzen 5 1600 @3,9GHz
GTX 1060 3 gb
SSD 120 GB
HDD 1TB @ 7200 RPM

So i've tried other methods of recording and it seems that with shadowplay the video is really nice and smooth on a 2 hours gameplay no lag whatsoever. it seems that maybe i am doing something worng with obs?

Ok so i;ve tried also these settings you mention and still the problem pesists , Also i;ve notices that even when i;m trying to record with x264 lags as well . I've tried low quality settings and high quality settings on both nvenc and x264 and all the videos are lagged and pixelated after a period of time into the recording

Try turning on Vsync in the game you are playing.

I spent the better half of a week messing with settings in OBS trying to get a fluid recording. As soon as I turned on vsync in game ON, the video suddenly became fluid.

This is a debugging choice, if it produces smooth video, consider downloading EVGA Precision X or MSI Afterburner and limiting your max fps in there to 60 fps. This is a better option than vsync, as Vsync introduces input lag.

Now, I'm using AMD, as I have an RX480, but i tried CBR, VBR CQP, Lossless, etc etc etc etc. Every single recording regardless of the game was choppy. Then it dawned on me. I kept vsync off in games by default. tried that, and BOOM, smooth recordings. Now I'm optimizing my settings for best quality for smallest filesize, because 213 GB 50 minute videos makes for a sad sad panda. :)

Hey , thanks for the reply I forgot to mention that my fps are capped at 60 from in game option, I also tried vsync but none of the methods work for me . My game runs sold 60 fps when capped and 90-120 when uncapped . I just can’t figure out what am I doing wrong , may be the fact that I am saving my recording to the hdd and not to my ssd?

Thanks it seems that i really need a second hard drive only for my recordings , may be thats what is causing the issue , i get a new drive and come back with an answer

Since your Log wont load for me can you reupload it with the build in option in OBS and post your Log again? Maybe its just Xbox Game DVR thats interfering.

This is the log file . I'm thinking maybe it's hdd's fault?

Ok , so comming with an update : I tried to record with three types of recording settings first time both on my SSD and then second time on my HDD . Also i have to mention that this time i uncapped my framerates to unlimited.

The settings i applied : VBR 30k
VBR 17k
COPQ 17
As a conclusion none of the videos were pixelated or choppy neither on SDD or HDD . I just can't figure what is causing the problem .
