Howdy! I've been using OBS for about 6 months but only for broadcasting Powerpoint presentation on Periscope. All of a sudden this week I cannot keep a presentation up for more than 15 minutes because OBS keeps crashing. It simply disappears from my screen and I get an error pop up saying OBS Closed Unexpectedly. I've tried finding posts that have the same issues and I've tried two different solutions but I'm still having the same issue. Very frustrating. I have absolutely no clue what to do at this point. I hope someone can help. I have a MacBook Pro running the latest Catalina system software v10.15.3. Any/All suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Try this:

Make a copy of this folder:

/Library/Application Support/obs-studio

Put it somewhere safe, like on your desktop

and then delete the original. This is the folder your OBS preferences, profiles and scene collections live in. If something has happened that damaged these files, it could be causing OBS to crash on startup.

With those removed, OBS will behave as if it is a fresh install-- no scenes, no profiles. But if it does not crash, it means something in that folder likely caused the crash.

Another way to test this would be to make a new user account on your computer, and open OBS with that-- that user will also have a fresh install of OBS with no profiles or scene collections, and if that does not crash, it indicates that at least some part of the problem is a file in that folder.

I was having this same issue. Finally found that the iphone plugin I downloaded for OBS caused it to crash on startup. Deleted the plugin and it works normally now.

Removing scenes and profiles folders was solving all my recent issues with crashing of my MacBook Pro under Catalina and Big Sure. Unbelievable! Probably, this was caused by a transition from my old to my new MacBook Pro. Thank you so much @Narcogen for this simple but very effectiv tipp!

Having the same issues. macOS Mojave 10.14.6 and OBS v27.0.1 only way to get it to run was to zap everything from previous install. (using appzapper)
