OBS keeps crashing the game its trying to record.

I keep attempting to record elite dangerous odyssey with obs and I get everything working the game started and me moving around then open obs and when I try to capture the game screen I can see it recording and even the game animated on the obs window but when I switch to the game itself the game crashes. I tried having obs open as I open the game but that just leads to it crashing immediately. Help
 
Update I tried to run obs and play a different game and it seems obs crashed ANY! game I try and play. It isnt limited to elite dangerous.
