Question / Help OBS - iPad mini for youtube

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to record iPad mini footage to upload to Youtube.

I'm currently mirroring my iPad mini retina to my desktop using AirSever. I am able to record my iPad screen without any issues using OBS game capture feature and using AirServer as my source.

Unfortunately my recordings have huge black borders around them. Are there any settings or changes I can make to reduce these. I believe most of the issues lie with the iPad resolution and my PC monitor resolution.

iPad Mini - 2048x1536
Monitor resolution - 1680x1050

The following screenshot shows what I am seeing on the video playback of my recording.

Any advice on how I can capture my iPad screen with a better resolution, ideally for uploading to Youtube.

Cheers,

Chris

I'm not sure what you want to appear instead of the black space. The iPad is 4:3 aspect ratio and your monitor is 16:10, unless you buy a 4:3 monitor then you will have empty space.

I have seen iPad gameplay captured and uploaded on youtube without any borders and I am wondering how this has been achieved. I am sure most iPad's aspect ratio is 4:3

you can crop (click the source, then click edit)with holding the "Alt" key and drag with mouse, then right-click that source > position/size > fit to screen
also set in Settings > Video > custom base resolution to be the exact as the ipad

if cropping isn't working as you want, try using Window Capture instead(if that is possible), then in there use sub-region... afterwards do the right-click fit to screen thing
