Question / Help OBS hangs on not responding when I try to close it

I don't get any crash log because it doesn't crash - I have to kill it through windows "close the program" dialogue window. Otherwise OBS just hangs indefinitely.

Same issue. Updated to OBS 23 today. Every time I try to close OBS it just stops responding. The "What's New in 23.0.0" prompt always shows up whenever I reopen OBS also.

Update: Uninstalling and reinstalling seemed to fix things.

Same thing, freezing when trying to close.

Because it is not "crashing" it is not saving a log to try to identify why

uninstalling and reinstalling fixed it for one startup/shutdown but now it is doing it again, but the splash screen is not showing anymore when starting back up

Adding on to the last post..

23.0.0-rc2 is working fine

With the 23.0.0 live version, it is something in the scenes that is causing the crashing issue, but it is difficult to narrow down what it is, I think it might be a chroma filter that is not carring over, that is the only thing that the scenes have in common that keep crashing

I am having the same frustrating issue. I thought it might be a "browser source" like streamlabs overlays. So I removed them from all my scenes (now i have to set them back up). Still the same issue.

Also constant "What's New" window on every startup.

Odd thing is that when I look into Task manager to kill it, it has sub-processes still running and one of these is a "browser". but I have no browser sources running.

It doesn't seem to be source based for me, I've tried switching over to completely different sources and profiles and can't get it to close without having to kill the task. Really annoying.

Hi, i had the same problem. You have to deinstall and reinstall OBS (the newest version).
I did it and it work for me. All your settings will be there if you dont use this section in the uninstall process.
