Question / Help OBS freezing even when not streaming

Hi all, I hope someone can help. I stream using OBS Studio 64 bit on windows 10. I am using an i-5 intel with 16GB RAM.
The problems.
When obs is open and i try to do anything, on or off stream, with no game open, it will freeze. I cannot close it without task manager.
This problem occurs every time. so building a source becomes and hard task as i have to restart every 2 mins

I hope i can find help here as when i am streaming sometimes i get stuck and cannot changed scenes or anything, it continues to stream but i cannot use the dashboard of obs at all.

OK the issue is fixed. one of my friends just spent an hour with me, so for anyone else with the same problem here was the fix. I am using an MSI PC. MSI comes with Nahmic audio as standard. Nahmic caused the problem, as soon as it was switched off OBS is running fine. Apparently audio drivers are the spawn of evil. Hope this helps someone in the future.

I had the exact same problem and I saw this and then uninstalled Nvidia audio driver rebooted launched obs and ran normally thanks for the help
