OBS freezes PC when launching Warzone

Hi All,
I have been using OBS for a few years now with no issues but recently something has changed. I still can use it with all my games apart from Warzone. When I launch WZ, everything seems normal until few minutes in when my FPS starts dropping slowly until 1fps. Under Task manager I can see 100% system interrupts and OBS is frozen. The moment I close OBS via Task Manager, WZ comes back to normal. I do not stream, I only record but mostly I use Replay Buffer for shorts. I have tried all the usual things like reinstalling the game, drivers etc. My system is up to date. Not sure what to do anymore. Log attached (it may be cut as I had to force End Task). I have also attached one successful log as very rarely I can make it work by resetting my PC.

Thank you

Bart

I have now checked other games and can confirm the issue is only with Warzone. Maybe it's because of their Anti Cheat?

Restart OBS and perform a test stream/recording of no less than 30 seconds doing as you normally do, including playing the game, full camera or whatever you normally do. Now upload the current log file and paste the url to the log in here. Click on the Analize button to start troubleshooting common issues.

The anti-cheat only looks at cheats. If it detects any kind of cheats then reacts ingame, not against OBS. As long as you don't use cheats you should be fine. Simple reduce the graphics quality ingame, which you can then make it better using nVidia's filters (gforce esperience is needed) and it should be good. Of course, Warzone isn't well optimazed and with every update this is worst.

hi PaiSand, thanks for your response. My main problem is that i cannot make a proper recording because OBS is crashing my PC. I know how to use it and set it up properly as I have been using it for recordings for years. Only recently something changed. The logs attached are the only ones I was able to get.

You need to fix some things, and this is why I always ask to use the Analizer.

On the encoder side, nvenc, look if there are updates and perform a correct install (or whatever they called it). You'll find the option when starting the downloaded update as custom install in the lower left corner.
Remember CoD Warzone isn't well optimized and suffers from too many issues. Same as any other CoD game. To make it work better simple reduce the quality of the game graphics. You can then use nvidia filters (gforce experience needed) to enhance it.
If the problem persists, try using x264 as encoder.

There are too many variables that may cause the issue, including the components used to make the video card. It's just a matter of testing.

After many different attempts I have finally found a temporary solution that may help others. I have to start a game first, wait for it to load, ALT-Tab to Windows, launch OBS, start Replay Buffer (optional) and go back to the game. Everything will work fine. If I start OBS first, it will always drain 100% resources during game launch and it will crash my PC.

Really weird, it's like something happened to the hooking mechanism. I've been using OBS for years and only recently it stopped working :/
