Bug Report OBS Frames dropping when streaming League Of Legends

Hi Guys,

My OBS Studio is dropping frames like mad from the second I get into a game on League Of Legends. I have been troubleshooting and reading/watching online for the past 7 hours and still nothing.

I stream Rocket League, Player's Unknown Battle Grounds and CS:GO with no issues.

I have tried:
- Reinstalling League Of Legends
- Called my ISP (Virgin) to check there are no issues there (there isn't)
- Tried all different bitrates for the streaming (i keep it at 2500 usually)
- I have tried using Game Capture / Window Capture and Display Capture all separately
- I have tied turning off my firewall
- I stream over WiFi (with no issues) yet have tried ethernet cable, but this does not fix.

PC Specs:
Windows 8.1
Processor: Intel(R) Core (TM) i7-4720HQ CPU @2.60GHz
Ram: 32GB
System Type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor

Internet Speed Test (over WiFi as this is how I stream everything).

I really don't know what to do, I'm not an expert on networking issues and I would really appreciate the time of someone who does.

Thank you for your time,
James.

15 hours into troubleshooting this and i want to give up haha.

The game runs perfectly but the stream is dropping frames like no tomorrow, i know it's not the pc as i've used it to stream league 5 months ago, i stream anything else no problem, the pre game of league of legends streams no problem, yet the second i'm in game, it gets ruined. Any ideas?

Hi @Harold, sorry this is the first time I've created a log in OBS.

I think this one is right? - https://hastebin.com/oduvupihey

If not please do let me know what I should do to fix.

I would do anything to get this fixed, I spend about 6 hours a day trying to fix it, today has been day 4, a total of 23 hours in now. Really going crazy here.

Thanks in advance,
James.

I have also just upgraded from windows 8.1 to 10. After i updated i tried to stream and it worked a charm with 3500kbps up. Lovely, no trouble, i thought it was fixed!

Came to stream tonight and no luck whatsoever, it's gone back to sh*t.
Going insane. I have discord/skype if anyone might be able to run me through a fix?
Thanks,
James.

That log only has the start of the stream, not the full streaming session.
I just started a fresh stream to create the log from, that's why it's short, is it missing information that i need? Please do let me know anything I could do to get the right info in front of you guys here on the forums. I will do anything to get this fixed at this point!

read this:
https://obsproject.com/wiki/Dropped-Frames-and-General-Connection-Issues
The likely culprit is your ISP or your wifi.
A bandwidth test with speedtest is not foolproof because it gives you only a burst bandwidth while when streaming you want sustained bandwidth.
So the most likely is that your ISP changed a few things in its network. Or your wifi has issues.
To check the latter, go on ethernet and see if the issue remains.

I thought this might have been the case so I did try ethernet a few times but I get the same results.

I can stream any other game 3000kbps up no problem.

What happens is I start the stream and load up league of legends (no problems there, the stream is perfect.

I select my champion and the second the game goes from the champion select to the actual game, the stream goes from 3000kbps to bouncing around all over the place between 100kbps and 15000kbps.

I really appreciate your time, please let me know if there is anything else it could be!

I did just run another test here - https://hastebin.com/lebuwodozo and I noticed it says '
Could not find locale.ini path' on line 116.

Might that have something to do with it? I have no idea I'm really grasping at anything right now I've been on this for so long haha

There's still no complete streaming session in the log. We NEED that to be able to continue.

Hi Harold,

So are you saying you want me to stream for like 30-40 minutes? With the same issue rather than for a few minutes with the issue? Please tell me what I need to do and I will provide anything I have to, I really want to get this fixed.

Thank you for your time here!

You need to get the issue replicated then stop the stream then provide the log.

Or go back to your logs folder and upload one of those with the issue (the last 10 launches of OBS are in there)

That is what I did with this one here - https://hastebin.com/lebuwodozo. I started the stream, (with no issues). Then I launched the game and the issues started.

I left it for a minute, stopped the stream and sent in the log files.

Is that wrong? :(

That log in your post has no streaming attempt whatsoever in it.

I wish i understood what you meant :(

That log is from a stream i did tonight with the issue. The stream will even be recorded on my Twitch from the same time i streamed?

Are you saying i didn't stream at all or have i created the wrong kind of stream report in OBS? (Log file)

Thank you for your time i'm sorry i'm so sh*t at this stuff.

From our factoid bot:
Please post a link to a clean log file. To make a clean log file, first restart OBS, then start your stream/recording for ~30 seconds and stop it again. Make sure you replicate any issues as best you can, which means having any games/apps open and captured, etc. When you're done select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File. Copy the URL and paste it here.

Definitely a connection issue based on this:
22:45:09.306: Output 'simple_stream': Number of dropped frames due to insufficient bandwidth/connection stalls: 943 (21.8%)

Are you able to at least test with the laptop connected wired instead of wireless?

And here is a quick test I just did with a different game (Rocket League) - https://hastebin.com/ecawurekep

No lag at all on Rocket League. I may just have to give up on League of legends and stream other games haha.

The fact i can't makes me want to stream it so bad! haha
