Question / Help OBS dropping frames

Hey guys,

so I've got a decent setup:
  • i7-6800K
  • 16 GB RAM
  • EVGA 1080Ti FTW3 Hybrid
  • Gigabyte 1070 (used for NVENC Streaming)
  • Dell 1440p 144Hz display
Today I streamed fortnite and destiny 2. After switching games (from fortnite to destiny 2) I got some problems with the fps in obs. In the logfile it's called: Number of lagged frames due to rendering lag/stalls: 52925 (2.6%)

You can check my log here: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/ee9539d68aea3e1a94699ad890ea6c18

What I've found online concerning this issue was about using less browser sources (I even killed the bootstrap sometimes). This helped sometimes but today the only option to at least hold it a little bit stable was to remove the webcam also.

This is a frustrating situation: Why should I disable nearly all of my sources so I can stream?

Those aren't dropped frames, they're lagged frames, which is actually different. You're overloading your 1070 in one way or another if you're actually using it for nvenc.

The problem occures all the time, even with using the cpu with the lowest (ultrafast) preset or with the 1080 Ti or with the 1070 even on low settings. And how do I overload the 1070? It's just in the computer for nothing else then NVENC.

The interesting part is, that those lagged frames are happening during high graphic activities in the game.
