Question / Help OBS Dropping Frames

Hello,

I tried using the QuickSync Codec that comes with my processor, and anytime I use it OBS drops frames after 5-10 min or 60-90 min. It's random. It says that I have insufficient bandwidth, yet my Upload speed is 15 Mbps and I have no issues ingame. Log attatched.

It's not really about max upload speed so much as connection quality. Try running the Twitch Bandwith Test tool using a Medium Test Duration for your region with a 64k TCP Window Size, and post a screenshot of the results here.

18:03:39.478: Output 'adv_stream': Number of lagged frames due to rendering lag/stalls: 49 (13.6%)
You're also occasionally lagging frames, which means your system is overburdened at these times.

Hmm. I don't know enough about Quick Sync to say for sure. When you were on Quick Sync, you had an insufficient bandwidth warning. When you switched to x264, you had rendering lag. The rendering lag makes sense, because both x264 and BF1 are resource intensive.

Try one or more of the following:
  • Reduce your encoded FPS from 60 to 30 (this will probably have the most noticeable effect)
  • Change your downscale filter to Lanczos (or Bilinear to test) (this shouldn't matter, but you can test it out anyway)
  • Change your Output Mode to Simple

Why does it say insufficient bandwidth? Is it an OBS problem or internet because my bandwidth seems fine. Maybe Jim knows?
