OBS does not output any audio from my XLR mic

I can hear myself speak when monitoring my XLR input, but when listening back on a recording, I do not hear anything from my XLR, but I do hear the audio input from my gaming PC. This makes literally no sense to me since I can hear myself perfectly fine when monitoring in windows sound settings, and in OBS itself. I also tested to make sure I could hear my headset mic, and I can hear that perfectly fine when playing back the video I just took. Likewise, I can also hear my headset mic when monitoring thru OBS as well.

How do you have this set? (uncheck Active Sources Only to see everything):

The options are confusing, but there are two destinations from that drop-down selection:
  • Output goes to the Track selection, immediately to the right. These Tracks can take any number of things mixed into them, but they don't mix with each other. You can stream exactly one Track (Track 1 only in Basic mode, or any one Track in Advanced mode), and record any combination of Tracks (Track 1 only in Basic mode though). Recording multiple Tracks becomes alternative audio than can be selected during playback, like alternative languages or descriptive audio, or a different "minus one" mix for music practice or karaoke, etc., or you could use it to record things separately and mix later.
  • Monitor goes to the Monitoring device that you select in Settings -> Audio.

The default of monitor off also does allow the audio to go to the selected audio tracks in that screen.

Yes. That selection is confusing. It's a weirdly-labeled drop-down when I think it should be two checkboxes. I think the OP might have been playing/exploring earlier and left it on Monitor Only.
