Question / Help OBS default x264 options

Hi,

Does anyone know what are the default x264 options for each preset that OBS Classic and OBS Studio use (if they're different)? Is OBS just using -preset ultrafast -profile high, or does it actually pass specific options?

Also I've noticed OBS Studio uses much less CPU, but that does not really allow you to use a slower preset. I'm guessing Studio might be using different x264 options?

Hi Sapiens,

Many thanks for the reply. So the only custom command added by OBS is scenecut=0 and selecting different presets from the UI just passes -preset $preset (e.g. veryfast) to x264?

Is scenecut set to 0 for all presets? Is this also true for OBS Classic? Setting scenecut to 40 does seem to significantly decrease pixelation in high motion games such as Battlefield.

P.S. Why is my CPU usage considerably lower in OBS Studio, if it's using the same x264 presets? Shouldn't it be doing the same thing, technically, in terms of CPU load?

scenecut=0 was a setting requested by Twitch to help mitigate viewer buffering and is not affected by the preset. It is set only in OBS Studio and only when streaming to Twitch. OBS Classic is no longer in development and doesn't have this change.

I have no way of telling why your CPU usage is different between the two programs without at least some log files for comparison.
