Question / Help OBS crashing frequently

Lately it has become rather unstable for me, without me doing anything new. If I try to switch scene collections or edit properties on .gif or text sources, I have a 50/50 shot of getting a not-responding error or a crash. Today, a pop-up from steam caused me to crash.

I've tried a couple different things. Been trying NVENC lately because I thought maybe it was a CPU load thing but it doesn't seem to be solving it either. My scenes are rather busy and there are a fair number of them, but I often crash even when the scene collection I move to is empty.

Had another crash today on the current version of OBS-Studio. Here is the crash log: http://pastebin.com/00KSK0Cx

I never crash on old OBS. This is a studio-related problem. Today a few times it just stopped responding during the stream when I wasn't doing much of anything other than talking to the chat.

The crash is in an image source. Looks like an animated GIF is causing the crash. Probably a large/long GIF.

I've definitely crashed before while messing around with loading gifs. Recommend using media source for them instead?

Media Source might work, or it might have the same issue, I don't know for sure (I've never had this particular issue). You may also look into converting the GIF to a Webm.

Crash log shows: (c:\program files (x86)\obs-studio\bin\32bit\obs.dll)

Try using 64 bit OBS-Studio, which allows using up more memory to avoid a crash from having too many things.
