You should have read the pinned posts in this forum.
Freezes are normally associated with hardware or driver issues, as explained multiple times in other posts.

thanks PaiSand very much but there are no pinned posts saying freezing windows pcs only buffering dropped frames which is totally different. im guessing my gpu is goosed. it is relativaly new drivers so will look for another gpu or use an old one to check first. thanks!

And there's one that ask directly to post a log file along with the explanation you give of the issue.
Go check it.

Anyway, freezes are commonly caused by external to OBS problems, like the GPU driver or the GPU itself. Relatively new means you installed it not long ago, but it don't mean the installation was successful on each part, specially for the encoder side. Same if you use the CPU iGPU or software encoders.

It appears this was not the gpu. it crashed again last night with brand new intel a580 gpu in. could it be cpu? the cpu seems to hardly break a sweat as i monitor it with moo cpu monitor.

i have a 10/100 mbps hub in and not a giga bit could this perhaps be the problem which i very much doubt imo.

Warning Slow Network Connection
Your gigabit-capable network card is only connecting at 100mbps. This may indicate a bad network cable or outdated router / switch which could be impacting network performance.

Warning Non-Standard Framerate
Framerates other than 30fps or 60fps may lead to playback issues like stuttering or screen tearing. Stick to either of these for better compatibility with video players. You can change your OBS frame rate in Settings -> Video.

cheers

You do have an slow network connection. And you should use 30fps.

Also, you shouldn't be using advanced output unless you know what you're doing in there. Keep it in simple output mode.
Run the Auto-configuration Wizard, apply the settings it gives, restart OBS (very important) and test it.

Also, most antivirus are too intrusive and causes issues. As far as you have good behavior online and specially with your computer you don't need any other than the one that comes with Windows, which isn't that intrusive.

Thanks PaiSand!

I have streamed for 10+ years always used advanced. my router is uptodate, its a giga bit router so thats not the prob, i will change to a 100/1000 gigabit ethenet hub maybe but imo i think its overkill eg 10/100mbps is more than enough.

regarding fps i am in uk and they use 25/50 frames here not the 30/60 frames. the stream wont look correct on uk tv's. eg wont look smooth.

i use these settings and never had a problem until now.

i think i may have found the prob not sure. i had an apple keyboard that seems to have got a virus or gone corrupt(i have had this before) when you type on it, it gives out incorrect responses. i have since taken it out and no crashes yet fingers crossed.

my advanced settings are
video encoder=Gpu Quicksync.h264
ratecontrol=cbr
keyframe interval=2
profile=high
cpu usage = Tu1 eg slowest setting (best Quality)
latency=normal
b frames=2

obs shows up as using 0.1% of its cpu power. Also i only use 1280 by 720 not 1080p. and stream only stream that are 2mbps nothing crazy. Thanks again.
