Question / Help OBS crashing after last Win10 Update

Hi guys,
I'm using OBS for half a year now, with only minor issues.
Today OBS started crashing, telling me my video card driver had crashed, while games are still running fine.

I did change 3 things over the last 2 days:
1. Update NVIDIA drivers
2. Windows 10 Update
3. Change BIOS settings for CPU and RAM frequenzies

Changing back the hardware settings didn't help.
Installing yet another NVIDIA driver didn't.

I'm trouble shooting for hours now. Maybe the problem is caused by the intel HD4000 CPU drivers? Though I'm using an i5.
I installed OBS Studio and also get crashes and a weird issue that does not allow to stop a recording session. OBS Studio will, sometimes, show "stopping recording" but never finish doing so.

Thanks for any help!

I also have the same problem. This started occurring around after Windows 10 Anniversary Update and after GeForce Experience 3. I have never changed any hardware. This never happened to me before.
Other forum keep telling me to upgrade or downgrade video driver but this still occur. Obviously I can't downgrade Windows so I have not tried that yet.

I've been having issues with it as well after the Win10 update... Seems it doesn't capture my WoW window. Just freezes the screen and wont record unless I go to display capture (and I don't really want to do that for obvious reasons..)

Still couldn't fix it. Reading your posts I guess it's the Win10 update.

I only get those crashes when recording games that need a lot of resources, like f.e. ARK.
If I use display capture, OBS will only record super low framerates and shortly after switch to sound recording only, showing the last recorded frame.

Is someone on this? It's sort of a time sensitive issue for me.

I found a sticky thread about this under bug reports, it's from June 2015.
This error seems to be a thing since 2014, they blame it to an unstable GPU.

So the Windows Update killed my GPU while games are running fine.
Guess they want people to use XSplit or something. Ah yes, the support so far was great.

That Windows update screwed up all sorts of things for me. First all my audio mappings were screwed, then OBS started dying while trying to fix them. Now things like CSGO, which I used to be able to stream at 720, and record at 1080 with a constant quality value of 19 and keep my FPS above 100, will drop my FPS in game to sub 30. I'm really hating on Microsoft right now. I hope that they sort it out quickly.

I get the same problem doing a display capture streaming Paragon. I believe this problem may have something to do with latest Nvidia Geforce Experience 3.

Yah I'm about a day away from using XSplit again (used to kill my CPU back in the day when I last used it 4-5 years ago but I'd imagine its better now) since this is costing me some moneys from my sponsors n whatnot...

Having similar issues here, but only with certain games. OBS seems to randomly and repeatedly give the effect of crashing graphincs drivers over and over while recording after the Win 10 anniversary update. The only advice anyone had was to uninstall the update which isn't an option since it is required to run the game that I'm currently streaming.

Very frustrating as sometimes it will let me stream just fin and others it does the same thing when I try to stream as it does when recording. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to when it decides to do it.

Same problem over here. Why, windows, why? Everything was fine! Please, anyone who knows how to fix this problem, reply. If my GPU would be unstable, I would have had the same problems before the windows update. But that was not the case, so Windows broke something. Idk, pls help!

Lots of people are having problems since the Windows 10 Anniversary Update. The general solution is to just uninstall it.

You might also prepare for the day when Microsoft removes the ability to uninstall the Anniversary Update, and have a Windows 7 install ready, because on that day, lots of people are going to lose the ability to stream.
