Hello everybody! I need some help with my OBS. So my problem is this when I click on the button Stream the OBS crashes because of my GPU. I tried to install new drivers but it kept crashing. Tell me what should I do! Thanks a lot!

Hey,

Can you please post a log file? I have read your crash file but I couldn’t get anything else out of it (I don’t know a lot about crash files!). Also your specs would help.

Thanks,

Have you tried running as admin? That should help. Also when running OBS make sure it is running at Above Normal priority. If you’re already running Above Normal and I still asked then my sanity has took over lol but anyways. Also, AMD encoders “uses game resources”, according to “koala”, a member of this forum. This means if you use AMD it should affect some game FPS. AMD also “has grainy and pixellation,” again according to “koala”. So use QSV if your i5 supports it.

Well I tried to run it as an Administrator and put it on high priority but nothing happened. The problem is the same. I downgraded my drivers and again nothing happened.

The crash happens due to the AMD driver interfering with the Intel iGPU driver. You probably only updated the AMD driver. Download the newest drivers for both your AMD card and for the Intel graphics driver from the AMD and Intel websites and install them. You might be surprised that you have an Intel GPU driver installed in addition to the AMD card, but your CPU comes with an integrated GPU, so Windows will install a driver for it, even if you don't have any monitor connected to it.

I don't know for sure if that matters, but I would (re)install the Intel driver first, then the AMD driver. And don't skip any reboot the uninstall and install programs ask for.

Try running OBS on x264 or QSV (if available) and see if it is just your AMD GPU. If you have AMD options, you shouldn't really be using that anyways. As I said in my previous reply.

If it is still happening, make sure your stream key is correct.

He said that it happened before he even updated his drivers. He just said that it continued happening after the installation of new drivers, adn downgraded again. I would assume that his drivers are correctly downloaded.

Well It says that I don't have new drivers for my Intel graphics drivers. Or when I try to install the latest drivers it says that I do not meet the system requirements. Any other suggestions?

Consider your stream key, make sure it is correct.

Also, be sure to check both the Intel Integrated Drivers in your Display adapters options in Device Manager, and also your CPU drivers (if that is a driver that is conflicting with your OBS.)

I'm sorry if I can't be much of a help. I believe Koala knows more than I do. But simple things do matter.

And again, AMD encoder is far inferior to x264, NVENC, and also Quicksync. Use Quicksync, if you have the option, and x264 if your CPU is good enough. However, I have a 6th gen core i7 and still my game juggles my FPS with x264 recording and streaming.

Good luck!

Research brings up this thread: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/amd-hardware-encoder-crash.84036/

Uninstall Intel GPU Drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller and do not reinstall them.
Tnx man, that solved my problem!

@SpectreKid It may be the AMD encoder is inferior to other encoders, but a crash is always to be avoided. A well-installed system must not crash anything. Especially if drivers are involved, it is very important to remove possible sources of crashes to maintain the stability of the computer.
