OBS crashed and MKV file not found

i recorded a 3 hours video in MKV format with OBS , after hitting stop button it showed stopping for 5 mins and then crashed. i have the crash report , but i couldnt find the output file . is there anyway or place i could find the file, and if i find the file and it is corrupted is there a way to fix it

Mine does the same thing sometimes where it shows “stopping recording”. I just click it again, then it will actually stop it. Do that if it ever says “stopping recording”. To find the file, click “File” at the top of obs. Then click “Show Recordings”. That will show you every recording obs has captured. I don’t know any way to make a file not corrupted. Just hope for the best. Hope this helped!

yes , i understand, but this was a sort of different case. i also use to click it twice if id didnt stop , but this time i lost the file, i checked it in the folder but it is not there and after clicking stop 2-3 time it didnt respond for 3-4 mins and the program crashed
