Bug Report OBS crash when using ADVC camera input via firewire

I am using a ADVC-55 canopus converter to attach a sony camera.
the box converts composite to firewire
I am using firewire pciex card in a windows8 rig
the stream runs for a few seconds in preview and then crashes.
both in 32bit as 64 bit OBS
processor usage in preview up to 40% on a i7 3,4 GHZ
any ideas
I kept trying and after a few BOD it works no idea why....@;-)

What kind of camera are you using that you need composite to FireWire instead of just connecting FireWire directly?

We are doing registration and live broadcast of cultural en sport events.
If camera's are far apart firwire is a problem, so we use composite to a panel or to a converter.
we use sony and canon semi professional camera's

log run still problems no idea if this is due to obs, could also be codec and firewire card.

I have successfully used active FireWire repeaters to extend cables long distance. Have you looked into that? Avoiding composite will result in a tremendous increase in quality. You could even go HDV if your cameras support it.

Try using the 32 bit version of OBS just in case there's an issue in the 64 bit build. 32 bit is generally better tested in terms of capture drivers and such.

The application is still technically in alpha/beta state, so take as many precautions and testing beforehand when using it for any major events.

That being said, let's see.. AAC-related crash, hm.. that definitely shouldn't be happening. Try MP3 as well, see if you get the issue there too. Is there anything unusual about your system that is different from a regular system? You're using it for an event, have cameras and everything.. Virtual Audio Cables? Anything like that? Just something that would make it differ from say a regular gaming PC where your system is basically "standard"?

Thanks for the suggestions
I changed my system today it seemed unstable also in other situations, changed memory and added a nvidia 450 grafic card.
doing testing right now. running fro 1 hour now
I also added a firewire card to test with two camera's, unfortunately OBS seem to pic the typename from the device and I can't ad two video capture devices with the same name. in device control both camera's have the same name becasue they are identical.

Ah, yes, that's a slight design flaw - you should be able to change the name in windows setting for it though in the mean time
