Hi all,
I am trying to install OBS + Chromacam on my PC to have possibility to use in SKYPE a replacement of the background in my videostream with a picture.
The issue is actually, that OBS starts but when trying to add my webcam as ressource (Logitech 922) it crashes.

Here is my HW / SW overview:
-Windows 10 latest Version, 64 Bit
-HP notebook,

Comment beside :
I also do have issues when using Google Chrome browser and starting movies (for example on YouTube). In this case Chrome crashes as well. But other Browsers are working fine. Could there be a link between These issues?

Thanks if anybody can help me. I am getting crazy with this issue.

For your info: I am not very familiar with all the technical Details and I hope my explanations are sufficient.

Your crash happens in a module avmsnd.dll. According to what I got googling that module, it may be that this is part of a an AVM fax software or some sort of AVM CAPI driver. Update or deinstall that software and try again.

It's no crash directly in some chromacam module, but it may be triggered by the chromacam installation due to mangling with the Windows audio device driver stack. There are many reports that Chromacam make OBS crash, but these reports contain references to chromacam modules.

tl;dr:
  • update or uninstall AVM fax or CAPI software
  • if that doesn't work, uninstall Chromacam

Great ! Thanks a lot Koala. Some old parts of the installation of AVM and other programs I used for TAPI were the source for at least the biggest part of the Problem. I de-installed everything and Google Chrome is now running without issues in playing Videos. This was also a big Problem for me to solve.

Regarding OBS: I can start OBS and select the Logitech Webcam now. But when I select Chromacam as a source it ist not working and somethines crashing. Also I can`t find the OBS virtual cam in the list of Video Sources in SKPYE.

THe logfile delivers now "msvcr120.dll" as the issue.

I found the issue with Skype. It is related to the Version - Need to use Skype Desktop and not Skype W10. Thanks to the Forum I found the solution here. Only the usage of Chromacam remains actually an issue.

Your second crash log is the Chromacam crash I remember from other reports. I don't know any solution, though. I don't remember any reports that contain something like "I did <this> and now OBS+Chromacam works fine for me", so it may be that there is some incompatibility between OBS and Chromacam that prevents the usage of both. I tend to view it as bug in Chromacam, since it is a crash deep within their program code.

Hi Koala,
thanks for your efforts.
I re-installed the different programs and now it is working. I am running the following constellation:

* W10, 64Bit
* Logitech Cam 922 with Logitech sw
* Skype for Desktop (Skype Version 8.34.0.78)
* OBS 22.0.2
* OBS virtual Cam 2.0.2
* ChromaCam 2.2.2.2 (free-version, downloaded directly from their page)

Best regards RGT
