I believe I can help out somewhat. The order you want is as follows with some descriptions (top-down):
  1. Gain
    • This helps find the right level of dB for your microphone to be before you start filtering noise and mixing the EQ.
  2. Gate (I use reagate)
    • This would remove any unwanted constant background sounds, like a fan, but note that this might gate off any whispers that you may do.
  3. Noise Suppression (I use rnnoise)
    • This is where you start filtering out any and mostly all background noise like clicking, typing, or even desk bumps.
  4. Compressor (I use reacomp)
    • This will be a soft rounding of your exceeding volume. You generally want a gracious release time to catch the end of your words.
  5. EQ (I use reaeq)
    • The EQ at this stage will be correcting any strong resonating frequencies unique to your voice or removing some "ssss" sounds that got through compression. Others may EQ before compression as well, but this is what I do.
  6. Limiter (I use OBS)
    • This is your last line of defense against unwanted distortion when being extremely loud. I set my limiter to -3 dB but you could be a little safer and go for the default -6 dB.
Anyway, this is what I do and my input so hopefully it helps. You shouldn't need to follow this exactly, but this is a great starting point. as each voice has different requirements.
