Question / Help OBS causing laptop to shut down unexpectedly

I attempted to start streaming to twitch about a month ago, first when I streamed everything worked okay. I could stream for about 3-4 hours at a time and I had no issues. About 2 weeks ago however, after 2 hour or so of streaming my pc would freeze and I would get a pop-up window saying "Nvidia windows kernel mode driver 337.88 stopped responding and was recovered successfully." So, I'd be forced to restart my pc because everything would freeze and no audio would play. I resumed streaming and had no more issues but I didn't stream for long periods of time and thought nothing of it.

However, 2 days ago I attempted to stream a game of LoL and something odd happened. I set up the stream like normal, got into a queue for LoL and hit "start streaming" Everything was going smooth however around 8 minutes into the stream my laptop just instantly shuts down. No blue screen, nothing it just shuts down as if I was holding the power button. I attempted to reboot the pc and it would not turn back on. I attempted this 3 more times and on the 3rd try my pc booted up and said "Emergency repair initialized" Then booted back off about 5 seconds after that. I made sure the pc was off before removing the battery and putting it back in.After doing such, everything worked fine and has been working fine since. I noticed that the battery was warm but thought nothing of it because I use my laptop about 8-12 hours a day and don't always turn it off.
My hardware knowledge is iffy especially in laptops so sorry if it's obvious but does anyone know what could be causing the issues?

PC specs:
CPU: Intel(R) Core (TM) i7-4700HQ CPU @ 2.40 GHz
GPU: Geforce GTX 860M
Memory: 12.00 GB RAM
Current Resolution : 1920x1080, 60Hz
Driver Version: 337.88
OS: Microsoft Windows 8.1

It sounds to me like your initial issue was caused by the GeForce drivers. Try doing a clean install using a tool called DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to remove the old driver files and use the latest WHQL signed release on NVidia's website.

Download DDU: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

NVidia ForceWare: http://www.geforce.co.uk/drivers/results/103063

As for the random shutdown issues... I really wanna help you with that... but I'm literally in the same boat!! I came here to find a resolution to the issue but quite clearly there isn't one at the moment... which SUCKS! Hope we see a resolution to the issue here because it's so boring not being able to livestream when you wanna!!
