Question / Help OBS can't find (Dxtory) Video Capture Device

Hey guys,
hope you can help me with a big problem I'm having with using Dxtory and OBS for streaming/recording!

First of all, my specs (in case there is a problem with that):
CPU: i5-4690K 3,5Ghz
Graphics: EVGA Geforce GTX980 SC 2.0
MainBoard: Gigabyte Z97X GT
RAM: G.Skill F3-2400C10Q-16GTX 16GB
HDs: I don't think its relevant, but 2 SSDs, 2 internal HDs and 1 external HD

I'm currently using Dxtory 2.0.127 for capturing gaming footage and youtube.
Since I want to start to do Twitch too, I'd love use Dxtory as a medium for recording/streaming because of the many soundchannels you can configure and I also do love the Matrox Codec, so not using it is kind of no option :)

So here is what I tried.
Before a Keyboard Knight cuts my head off, of course I used my source number one for finding a solution...google.
So please be patient if the solution is obvious and I just don't see it myself.

I got the latest version of OBS and tryed the easiest setup for testing.
Getting Dxtory to record and direct output. Adjusted the Video settings to 1080p. Started OBS, tried to find a video capture device and it couldn't find it.
Startet a game to start "recording" with Dxtory in case it was needed.
Added the "Monitor" in OBS and tried to find the VCD.
Adjusted the OBS Settings as if I were streaming just with OBS.
Tried 3 Matrox Codecs and the standard Dxtory Video Codec (please please please don't let me use Lagarith)
Fooled around with the Video Settings at the bottom in Dxtory.
Checked at least three times if "DirectShow Output" is on.
Checked if OBS is running the x86 Version.
Tried the x64 too.
Restarted everything twice (PC too)
Went to the forum and couldn't find a similar problem.
Came here for help.

I would expect to see 4 Dxtory Video Capture bars in the dropdown selection but there is none.
I really don't know what to try anymore and hope you guys can help me out.

Thank you for taking the time and reading this post.

Do the Dxtory virtual devices show up in any other programs?

Tried reinstalling Dxtory?

Tried contacting Dxtory support since this isn't really an OBS issue?

Considered just not using Dxtory? I'm not sure why you're even integrating it into your workflow here or what benefit it could have.

Thank you for the response.

How can I check if it comes up in other programs? Or which problems should I try?

Yes I tried reinstalling.
No I didn't contact the Dxtory support because neither me nor you can say for sure it is a Dxtory problem and Dxtory was working perfectly up until this point so my though was it has to be OBS.

The reason I want to use Dxtory and OBS in combination is the Matrox Codec. It is a very lightweight filesize for saving with perfect quality. But the codec isn't the problem. I tried a few of them.

I plan to do something like stream highlight videos, after the stream :) Also, the fact that I can have many sound channels in one file is probably the main reason for it.

you do know that OBS studios can record with a hardware encoder at 1080p and stream with x264 with a downscale....
Anyway something to keen in mind is that video capture devices can only be captured once so if it ends up being used by another program, it will not show up. even if captured twice by OBS.

post your logfile please as well:

Hey!
As I've mentioned. The possibility of many sound channels in the video file is a huge reason I want to use it.
I know that OBS is capable of doing it too, but I like Dxtory for a few tweaks OBS hasn't a bit more :)
For capturing of course :)

Thanks for your time!

I kind of wanted to see a log of when you attempted the video capture device pointed to DXtory.

It doesn't let me put any video capture device in.
That's my problem.
I try getting one in, and it simply doesn't let me press OK so there is no log I can give you on that. Sorry.

You're unable to add video capture devices of any kind (e.g. a webcam) to OBS? Maybe a broken OBS installation then, or interference from some third-party software, or something else. See if it works in OBS Studio.

When I say to test Dxtory with another program I mean another program that supports video capture devices, like Skype or VLC or XSplit or whatever. If it doesn't show up in any other software then you know you aren't having an OBS issue and can take it up with Dxtory support.

Alright. Thanks for the advice. I will check that tomorrow.
I'm on the road right now but I will share what happened. Even if it would be a Dxtory thing :)

So. OBS Studio doesn't work either, but I Dxtory can't be found in VLC too, so it probably is a Dxtory problem.
Thank you all for your help! I'll switch to another forum then :)

Or better yet, uninstall DXtory and just use OBS studios. less compatibility issues and since OBS studios can do multistream at different bitrates and resolution (if you have the CPU for it) then I dont see the purpose in adding in another hook.

Seeing that Studios has Multi Audio Channels too, I will give it a try since I'd like to have only as many programs as really needed.
Again. Thank you all for your help!
