OBS blocks my camera, but I want to use it for audio only

Hi.

So I wanted to change the output quality of my mic, and I managed to do it using some DAWs, but they require me to use OBS to stream the audio. I decided to skip the first step and just use OBS plugins to adjust my mic. I installed virtual cables and it works great in other programs like Skype or Discord.

The problem is that OBS is blocking my camera in those programs. The camera output is just the OBS logo. This is pretty ridiculous when OBS isn't even using my camera.

So tthe question is how do I normally use my camera while using OBS as an audio mixer? (I'm using Windows 7)

Same problem here. I install OBS Studio for some homeworks twice days ago and i didnt use it yet.
But today, when i tried to take a photo on WhatsappWeb i notice than my camera didnt works, it show me just the OBS's logo.
OBS blocks my webcam and i had to uninstall the program.

If another app shows the OBS logo, then these apps haven't opened the original cam driver but the OBS virtual cam output instead.

As the original TO wrote he wanted to route and handle the cams audio thru OBS while not using the video part of that cam.
This is - in most cases - physically impossible. The same USB connection is used to transfer the video and audio part of those cams.

So while OBS uses (opens) the cams driver for the audio part, the video part is either

- used/routed thru OBS, too; or
- ignored at all.

To get rid of these dilemma is to route both of them (audio and video) thru OBS, as this is the original aim for OBS. Setup a scene consisting the video part/stream of the cam into OBS, make this scene the active one and start the virtual cam output on OBS.

Then in the other app (as described already) use the obs virtual cam as input. You'll see then the OBS content showing the original webcam thru the obs virtual cam output as it goes into the foreign app.
