Question / Help OBS - Black Screen Game Capture (Startopia)

Looks like this is a common issue with OBS, but I thought I'd make my own thread since I'm having this issue with a specific game, not OBS as a whole.

I've hooked up Startopia as a game capture (correct .exe selected) but when I'm previewing or recording it doesn't pick up on the game at all even though I tab back into fullscreen. Only the sound.

I've tried playing around with the ingame settings but nothing seems to do the trick - It's a DX game as far as I can tell too.

It's apparently kind of an old game, and old games don't often work with game capture because we may not have implemented the API they use.

I managed to get it working with Monitor input - It's not optimal but it's definitely better than nothing. I'll just have to hide my desktop during streams then.

Try game capture again with 0.631 by the way, we added DirectX 8 and DirectDraw capturing. Though if it's any DirectX version under 8 it definitely won't work.

Talk about dedication! Let me see if the game works...it won't. This is really weird - In the previous version OBS would pick up on the game fine with the game detection tool. It just wouldn't show video. With .631b it won't appear at all.

As far as I can tell the game is a DirectX 8.0a (Fully 3D at that) so it should pick up on it with the new hooks - Except now it won't find it at all (Running administrator in both applications)
