Bug Report OBS Black Screen Capture Window and crashes for game capture

xChaos

New Member
I have been using borderless window setting with the "capture window" for games because when I would try to use "game capture" OBS would just crash, and it had been working just fine for me. However, a few days ago, all my "capture window" sources have started to be recorded as black screen. This started to happen after i updated the program to the latest version, however, i was able to record flawlessly with that version days before this error started to happen.

After being unable to use the "capture window" option, I decided to try the "game capture" source again and it worked for every game except one and it continues to crash each time I try to just preview the stream for that specific game. (The crash log for it is below)
Code:

This crash appears to have occured in the 'c:\windows\system32\nvwgf2um.dll' module.

I have all my drivers up to date (the intel ones and the nvidia ones). One thing I did notice for my video setting for OBS is that the option to choose my intel video adapter is now gone and instead I have two options of Nvidia?
OBS Video settings.png

So, I have three issues that I would like help on. Why would the game capture work for every game except one (which is World of Warcraft, beta)? Why after the recent update would my window capture source no longer work? And why for my video adapter settings does it show Nvidia twice instead of Nvidia and Intel (which I have both on my computer)?

(Just for reference for any other developers reading, xChaos came to chat. Crashing was occurring with the latest world of warcraft expansion beta, in 64bit, in directx 11. Some sort of issue with laptop switchable graphics drivers doing 64bit capture seems like the probable cause, as 64bit is very uncommon for games and capturing still. I suspect that the developers of the drivers don't get as much testing in this particular circumstance)

I am able to stream the game now, from the "Window capture" and checked "Compatibility Mode". However, now the issue is the stream is ridiculously slow. 1-5fps and I have lowered the settings down to the lowest quality. The stream still freezes up but the game plays fine with no lag and I am unsure why. The game I am trying to stream is World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor Beta.

For the live game, I have no issues with the stream and there is no freezing of the stream or lag. I run my live client (as I checked) 64-bit also which I stream using the "Game capture" because the "Window capture" only shows a black screen. So I am not sure what exactly is the issue here besides the possibility of "Game capture" just not having as much lag? But a couple days ago, I was only streaming with "Window capture" and there was no freezing or lag.

Does anyone have any idea of the issue or what I can do?
Also, I would still like to know why when I try to use "Game capture" for the beta client that OBS crashes? (it is only with that game, OBS does not crash using "Game capture" for the live client, League of Legends, or Hearthstone, for me.)

Edit: And when I say lag and freezes, I am talking about when I am streaming and even just previewing the stream when trying the beta client. The settings are also still set at the lowest quality.
