Obs as NDI video switcher and audio Mixer

Dear OBS experts, I hope you are doing great

Please see at attachment,

I am interested in using OBS. I am in charge of this streaming for my church. I have worked in a design, however, I was advised that I can save, space, cabling, and use a better technology at the same time. I was told that OBS can replace my video switchers in the design and save some cabling in HDMI integrating with Propresenter. I want to be able to perform the following:

1) Smooth transitions between cameras using OBS as a video Switcher for NDI cameras.

2) Picture in picture ¨PiP using, cameras, or pptx or pro presenter or easy worship or videpsalms(currently being used)

3) My main audio comes from a mixer and goes direct to the Video Switcher in my design, then the video switcher (or OBS) mixes the main audio with cameras to hear the congregation singing during a service, and then the same in the streaming. We want to hear the environment as being present with the congregation. I would like to do the same with OBS. Explaining more, In additio I want to take audio coming from NDI cameras and mix that audio with the audio audio coming from the main sound mixer. Then my streaming or my PGM will send audio and the online audience will see the service, hear the pastor or music playing and hear the people praising in a specific time. I would like to have the option to turn off the audio coming from cameras during a sermon or when only the pastor is talking.

4) In addition to the streaming, I want to take the PGM (audio and video going out from OBS) with audio included to a screen in the lobby of the church that is in front of the street. Then in special events, people outside the church or people walking can hear the sermon.

5) I am using Melon App as my streaming service. Because of bandwidth in my country is not good, I do not want to disappear melon, it is easy to use and multistream in different platforms (sending only one stream), It saves bandwidth. At least at the beginning, I would like to integrate Melon with OBS, using OBS as a virtual camera and sending the PGM with audio to Melon. I mean Melon should recognize OBS as a video camera and as audio devicr.

Is it possible?

And of course, I think OBS can add more professional banners, and effects than the basic Melon I am using now.

Please your comments, and advice. Is all what I mentioned before possible? Have you done similarly?

Regards

Alvaro

Hi Alvaro,

Just saw your post and I'd be happy to chat through this with you sometime. I design AV systems for churches, theatres, and education.

If you want to grab a time with me, my availability is here:

Yes, OBS can do this, presuming computer capable enough to decode and handle (decode and re-encode) the incoming video signals in real-time (which is demanding). GPU offload to NVENC helps out by reducing CPU load.
I also strongly recommend NDI for single cable for video stream, control, and power (vs SDI or HDMI). But does require a properly designed network (think network segmentation/isolation, like VLANs, etc to ensure system uptime. Using a consumer/home router shared with guest WiFi, and office PCs is a recipe for a mess)

The challenge I have is audio from a mixer, as Windows Audio subsystem doesn't always play nice when it comes to seeing each individual channel (consistently... ASIO) in OBS depending on mixer used and how that mixer is connected to Windows/OBS
3) My main audio comes from a mixer and goes direct to the Video Switcher in my design, then the video switcher (or OBS) mixes the main audio with cameras to hear the congregation singing during a service, and then the same in the streaming. so NDI video into OBS - easy, peasy for those with some networking/PC expertise. Connecting audio to PC is easy, but depends on whether you want a combined (mono/stereo) signal, vs each individual channel. For a combined signal, you manage channel levels in the other mixer (not OBS PC). How to bring individual channels into OBS depends on your mixer (it varies, and I find it more complicated... and I'm a long0time IT professional)
4) In addition to the streaming, I want to take the PGM (audio and video going out from OBS) with audio included to a screen in the lobby of the church that is in front of the street. Then in special events, people outside the church or people walking can hear the sermon.
OBS has a presenter output, and there are other options as well

I'm unfamiliar with Melo, so I won't comment on that
