I'm pretty new to streaming, and only got started because of the pandemic which makes it impossible to perform where I would usually do so. I installed OBS on a friend's recommendation, and on the first try a couple of weeks ago it went pretty well other than the volume being a little low, which was my fault for setting the levels too low. I hit "start streaming" and a live video appeared on Youtube (I had already gotten the streaming key), which continued as long as I was streaming. I tried to do another show today, and nothing worked. "Start streaming" didn't connect to youtube at all, and trying to generate a new key made no difference either.
So, I decided, since it was time to start, to record the performance and upload it later, since I had recorded several times to make sure the audio was working all right and camera zoom etc. were in order. I played a (as far as I can tell) pretty good set, but when I checked the video stored to my drive, there was no sound at all. All connections, levels and settings were identical, and a short test recording afterwards also had sound. I can't help suspecting that other people who classify this software as not very good (to put it politely) may be right, but I am hoping that there is some rational explanatoin for this and a way to fix both problems.
As for settings, nothing too complicated. Video from a Brio web cam, audio is the mixer output run through a Tascam US-144 which worked fine every time except that critical one. I've attached log files of the recording without sound, and the recording before where the sound worked. Unfortunately the log file of the successful stream seems not to exist.
