OBS and VB-Cable setup

Hi, I have several needs

Hi have VB Cable + AB + CD

What I need is to:

- send my OBS mic (which has filters on it) to StreamYard
- not to ear my on voice myself
- be able to send the audios of medias I have on obs (.mp4, mp3 and so on) to StreamYard
- be able to ear the the audios of medias on obs myself

In other words both my Mic (with filters) and my medias have to go to streamyard but only medias should be ear on my mac.

Here is my settings but that's obvioulsy wrong: I think the audio of the .mov is arriving to streamyard because the light is green but I can't hear it on my speakers. And my voice is not getting to streamyard.

Anyone knows how to link all this toghether?

OBS has the Stream, the Recording, and the Monitor. That's it. Only one Monitor, that you can send to any device, physical or virtual, but only that one.

If you want different things to go to different places, you'll need a plugin. I've heard some good things about the Audio Monitor plugin, but I haven't used it myself:

That said, you might also consider using a DAW instead for all of your audio work. Use OBS's Monitor to get the videos out, and that's all. Send the Monitor to a loopback for the DAW to pick up, and send the DAW's finished soundtrack to another loopback for OBS to pick up as its only audio source at all to pass through completely unchanged. Mics and other things go directly to the DAW and are processed entirely in the DAW, not OBS. Your headphones also come from the DAW, not OBS, as do any other destinations like StreamYard, etc.

Wouldn't be possible to:

- Send Mic & Media Audio => to the stream
- Send Media Audio only to the monitoring
- Ear the monitoring on my Mac

Ok I'll look at Audio Monitor. Concerning the DAW in the past I hard of VoiceMeter and I think there is not good virtual DAW for Mac, isn't it?

Yeah, that works.
- Mic uses "Monitor Off"
- Media uses "Monitor and Output"
- Send the Monitor to your headphones

VoiceMeeter is a sort of "mini DAW". It's like a small "postage stamp" analog mixer compared to the large-format rig that a full DAW is. If that's all you need, great! But sometimes you do need the full rig.

There are lots of DAW's that run on Mac. Some are even exclusive to Mac if I remember right. The ones that I like though, are free and cross-platform, so they run on everything. There doesn't seem to be much correlation anymore between quality and cost. It's just that the free ones don't have the advertising budget.

Yeah but where do I set the output of OBS that should go to form my OBS mic to streamyard? In parameters -> audio there is the option to choose the monitoring device but I can't find where to set the output of the mic

Problem is that Voicemeter is not for mac and I don't know which software I can use.

BTW this is driving me crazy, I's been all day I try different combos, not knowing exaclty what I'm doing...

There are no source-specific outputs. Again, OBS only has the three in total: stream, recording, monitor. That's it.

You can use the monitor to feed a different app, via a loopback, which is what VB-Cable is, but then you can't use it for headphones. Or vice-versa. There are no other outputs.

Unless you add a plugin like the Audio Monitor one that I mentioned earlier.

Or do everything in a DAW that doesn't have that restriction. Like I also said earlier, use OBS's monitor to get the video soundtracks out to the DAW, nothing more, run the mic and other sources directly to the DAW so that OBS never sees them at all, and send the finished soundtrack from the DAW to OBS as the only external audio source at all, with no processing whatsoever in OBS. Other apps are fed directly from the DAW, and your headphones are also fed directly from the DAW, all independently because the DAW doesn't have that restriction.

Problem is that Voicemeter is not for mac and I don't know which software I can use.
Try Ardour:
It's the one I use, free on Linux at least, but runs everywhere. You might need to pay for an easy-to-install version, or I'm pretty sure you can still download the source code for free and build it yourself. And of course it has competitors too. Search engines are your friend here. :-)

Like most DAW's, and all good ones, it also uses plugins to do most of its actual processing. It may or may not come with some, depending on how you get it, but if it does, look through those and see if they're worth using.

One of the problems that audio producers tend to have, is that they grab all the plugins they can find, and then get overwhelmed with having 30 of the same thing to choose from, all with slightly different characters that may or may not be noticeable. Don't do that. :-)

But if you can't find what you want, then do search the internet for the industry name of the effect and the format that you want it in. Formats are things like VST, LADSPA, LV2, AU, etc. The DAW's documentation should tell you what formats it can use on your system. You might also register on the DAW's forum and ask there.
