Question / Help OBS and VAC and Skype, Oh My!

I am trying to configure a way for VAC to play nicely with OBS. So far, so good. VAC Line 1 is my default output source. I have all my applications running to it besides Skype which is set to my headset. I have Audio Repeater set to send VAC Line 1 to my headset. So, in theory: all audio besides Skype is being ran through my default device. Therefore, OBS should receive audio from everything EXCEPT Skype. Simply wonderful, right?

I wish.

I am under the impression that OBS only pulls audio from the default device.

OBS streams whatever your default audio device is and then whatever you select as your microphone.

I have my microphone disabled in OBS just for the sake of narrowing down the error. I have restarted everything in case old settings were being used.

I'm trying to figure out a solution to this on my own merits because I generally hate asking questions that I think should be easy to solve but I'm out of ideas.

Any help for a stranger?

(Loving OBS by the way. Great piece of software.)

you don't need vac to accomplish this. disable the vac line close everything (to take effect) and install dfx audio enhancer once installed set the audio output on skype to the real sound card speakers (not the default not dfx).

obs will only capture dfx speakers but not skype. you should be able to hear everything on your speakers because dfx speakers still play to the real speakers.

I do the following with no problems.

I have vac 1 as default audio device and it goes to my headset through the repeater config.

I have a vac 2 and have it go to my headset also with the repeater.

I have mumble set to output to vac 2.

My microphone is not using vac at all and is just my headset device as the default recording device.

When I stream with OBS my game audio and anything else outputting on vac 1 goes to the stream and I also have obs using the mic directly also.

Since mumble is on vac2 for output it does not go to the stream although I hear them through my headset. When I want people on mumble to go out on the stream I just switch mumble to output on vac 1 and viewers can hear them.

I thought it was implied that Skype was still being outputted to the stream. But to be fair, it was not stated explicitly so my apologies.

I will try both recommendations later this evening.

Thank you for the responses from everyone so far. And sorry if I wasn't clear.
