I just bought avermedia and when I add video capture device, the device selection pops up and I need a resolution to continue I don't know what resolution to put to make it work, I need help

I am using the live gaming portable, and no idea what resolution is being sent. In OBS when I added avermedia I have to put in my own resolution and there are no options

You can't add the Live Gamer Portable directly to OBS. You need to install and use AVerMedia's Stream Engine software instead. Get it from
http://gamerzone.avermedia.com/products/live_gamer_series/live_gamer_portable/download/en and make sure your drivers/firmware are up to date while you're there.
What are you capturing? A console? A second computer?

I am capturing my xbox, but with this stream engine it doesn't let me start

You can't use your LGP with OBS unless you add it via the Stream Engine so you'll need to be more detailed than just "it doesn't let me start." What resolution is your Xbox configured to output? If you aren't sure, go look. Configure the Stream Engine for that resolution. Be sure to add Stream Engine to the 32-bit version of OBS, it doesn't work with the 64-bit version.
