Question / Help OBS 21.1.1. not finding video capture device

Hi guys,

I am new here and new to this scene. I just bought a AverMedia Live Gamer Portable 2 Plus and I am planning to stream some games with it. I've downloaded OBS 21.1.1, but when I want to add the LGP2 as video capture device, there is no source found (except my FaceTime HD Camera). Does anybody know how to solve this?

Thanks in advance!

Not sure there is one.

If you start a new movie recording in QuickTime, does the Avermedia show up as an input device?

Then the capture device itself is not providing compatible drivers, and there's nothing we can do about that other than recommend a different brand capture device.

For mac, our first recommendation is Blackmagic Design brand, Decklink, Ultrastudio and Intensity model lines.

Thanks for all the answers so far.

I have contacted the customer support of AVerMedia and they say (it says so on their website too) that the LGP2+ is compatible with mac (and OBS). On Youtube video's I can see that for some people the LGP2+ is shown as video capture card in OBS..

The issue may be similar to the issue with Elgato.

Elgato claimed for some of their devices that it was compatible with MacOS and compatible with OBS... but it was NOT compatible with OBS when used on MacOS because no native video device driver was provided. The device worked on MacOS only with the bundled software, or would work with OBS on Windows.

So either there's no driver or it's not installed.
