So since I want and also need to record with my GPU (rx580 8GB overclocked). In the Output Tab, I only see the "standart" Software x264 encoder but my normal "Hardware(AMD)" is not there anymore. That happened since the latest update. If I downgrade to the older OBS everything is fine. But I need the new version for the multiscreen and some bug fixes.
And yes I already updated my GPU drivers to the newest version and also all my other drivers. Please help!

Please post a log from the latest version of OBS studio.

I've been having the exact same issue since the update today. I get a failed to initilize stream error when I try streaming too. My drivers are up to date too.

There might be a bug in the new AMF detection code we added this patch. Standby, when we have a test build available I'll post it here for you guys to try,

For everyone having this issue, please verify how you are checking if your GPU drivers are up to date.

1) Windows update
2) AMD utility auto-updates
3) Checking versions on the AMD website

I've been checking through the AMD software and it says I'm up to date. I also haven't had an issue since reverting back to the previous version of OBS

Yes, I did all of those things and it still wasn't working for me.

I have the same issue as of updating last night. I checked via AMD utility.

It was throwing this error when trying to stream or record, but I was able to get record to work by manually specifying the x264 encoder. The stream settings have that same encoder as the only option so there's nothing I can seem to change to get it to work.

I was on 17.1 but after checking AMD's website I see 18.0 drivers are out.

Just updated via AMD's website to the 18.1.1 driver. Restarted. Opened up OBS, went to Output settings, under Stream switched to the x264 encoder and I was able to stream.

AMD Gaming Evolved app is a liar.

That's what we've been seeing too.

Anyone having this issue should be using AMD's website to grab the latest version. Do not rely on any kind of auto updates.

I use an older driver because it behaves a lot better on my vega for quite a few games and doesnt cause crashes in overwatch. Is there any way to add VCE recognition for older drivers as well?
