Bug Report OBS 19.0.2 freezes when I try to change Scene Collection

Hi friends,

after the latest update to version 19.0.2 OBS just doesn't allow me to switch from one Scene Collection to another. It simply freezes to "no response" and has to be shut down via the task manager. It is possible to duplicate a Scene Collection, rename it, edit it and use it for one session, but after that it is again impossible to switch out of this one.

After reinstalling version 18.0.1, everything works fine. So I think it's not a fault on my side, but a bug in OBS 19.0.2.

Has anyone experienced the same issue? And found a solution maybe? Thanks in advance!

I am having the same problem with 19.0.2 across multiple installations, and OBS is hanging on shutdown too. I just downgraded four of our live production systems back to 18.0.1, and both of these problems went away. I hope they resolve these problems soon because I want to upgrade to 19.x.x before the fall sports season starts up again.

Hello again,

I just gave it a new try after Microsofts patchday, but the problem still persists. I'm sorry I didn't upload a log file earlier, but here is one at last.

Please note that OBS 19.0.2 allowed me some switching between different scene collections, before it finally got stuck again. As far as I can see, there is no final error reported in the log file, so let just tell me that OBS simply stopped working and gave me a "no response" message. After that, I had to exit OBS via task manager.

And here is the log: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/9d78d53d7c87a0e0ea9efef6a99a5bd2

Please have a look, thanks a lot!

Switched to scene '(null)'.

Is the item you are selecting the last one in the list? And how are you selecting? Via mouse or keyboard up down arrows? Or via hotkey?

I guess I found out what caused the trouble....

I used some wmv files as background loops for different scenes, e. g. stream opening/welcome. They worked fine with OBS 18.0.1, they look (and loop) still fine in VLC media player, but for some mysterious reason OBS 19.0.2 doesn't like them any more.

So whenever I switched to another scene collection and its opening scene, one of these wmv background loops was started and led into freezing OBS. Now I've converted all the wmv files to mp4 (using the freeware Any Video Converter), and the problem seems to be solved.

Hope this helps J. C. Utter and other users as well.
