My friend wants to start streaming, but he's having trouble finding the "screen region" for his windowed games.
If you know how to do it in the latest beta patch (0.542), post some pictures on how to do it.

It's called Window Capture in OBS. You can select a sub-region of the window capture in the capture properties if you don't want the whole window. Note that fullscreen game don't work with Window capture. Game capture is also a very good capture method in OBS, too.

First you should try using "Game Capture". If it doesn't work, you can try "Window Capture". "Monitor Capture" is usually slower so don't use it if possible.

"Screen region" is XSplit's equivalent of "Monitor Capture" in OBS. As suggested, use Window Capture or Game Capture instead. Any guides that mention "Screen region" were probably written for XSplit in a time when "Game Source" (AKA "Game Capture" in OBS) didn't exist. Or it was written because when Game Source was implemented, it was a paid feature (it's free in OBS).

Long story short, the guides are outdated and you should be using Game Capture or Window Capture when streaming games. With Game Capture, the game can be in fullscreen or windowed mode. With Window Capture, the game HAS to be in windowed mode and you should leave Aero enabled.
