Question / Help Nvidia NVENC stuttering.

Hi,

I've been trying to use Nvidia NVENC to stream since it doesn't affect my FPS as much since in a game like Tera, x264 completely destroys my fps if I use it and for some reason the NVENC has multiple random stutters. I get no droped frames on my OBS when it happens and when I use Shadowplay to record I don't see these stutters either so not sure if its due to my card.

Here is the vod where you can see the stutters. http://www.twitch.tv/zaeney/v/42916297

These are some timestamps where you can see the stutters happen - 24:28 , 24:38 , 1:16:45 (It happens much more often, just linking a few of them).

Can't post the log as its not allowing me to post more than 1000 letters, will attach it to the thread.

NVEnc isn't a streaming preset, its for recording to disk at high bitrates. If you're going to stream you really need to use x264. Adjust the resolution and framerate and preset until it no longer destroys your FPS.

set your buffer to 3500, the same as the bitrate

The stuttering persisted even after I tired a lot of different things with Nvenc.

Testing out x264 with lower bitrate and the stuttering seems to still be there.

http://www.twitch.tv/zaeney/v/44785927 heres the vod, multiple stutters in it.

https://gist.github.com/anonymous/808deff18532f4f9ea2e heres the log.

Any advice on what this could be?
First of all, I think you are shooting for way to much.

downscale to 720p and 30fps is fine.

lower bitrate and buffer to 2500. this should be more talerable to watch. the log you send was not from the VOD you linked so I cant say exactly what is wrong but from experience your settings are to high.
