nvenc_hevc vs NVIDIA NVENC H. 264 (new)

Hi,
I have a GTX 1660 6GB which supports HEVC: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_NVDEC

I tried recording with same bitrate using the two encoders and found out that HEVC is a lot more "power hungry" than H. 264.. In the same game I have 100% GPU usage vs 75% Max.

I also noticed that file size is about the same and even video quality seems aligned between the two. Is there any reason why I should record with HEVC or should I stick with H. 264?

Whatever you compared, you didn't compare hevc performance. Hevc with gtx 1660 is running on the dedicated nvenc circuit and doesn't require any CPU resources.
