I have googled and really haven't found much information.

I know that NVENC gets better/new features/more effecient with each major GPU release. I'm assuming QuickSync gets the same treatment, maybe to a lesser degree.
Is quick sync really that much worse in 2018? Considering you have a newer generation 6, 7 ,8+ chip.

I have an i7 6700k and with the preset set to Quality don't notice much of a different at 6k bitrate vs NVENC.

The difference starts to show more drastically at lower bitrates
At "high" bitrates, the difference isn't that easy to see, other than in PSNR and SSIM values

But for streaming at 6000, I mean is there really much of a difference in them?

NVENC hits the performance harder then QuickSync.

I understand QuickSync 1 wasn't very good, but it's had 5 revisions since then.

If you stream with 1080p 60fps, a bitrate of 6000kbit/s is still very low for fast games, so you should see differences between NVENC and x264. Not sure, if the difference between Quicksync and NVENC is also noticable.
