Question / Help Nvenc/OBS RTMP FFmpeg disconnect

...Also enable jumbo packets, really works, least for me.

I've never heard of jumbo packets. Could you please point me toward how to enable jumbo packets? I'll be researching this on my own. Maybe I can figure it out. **EDIT: Nevermind, that was super easy...9kb MTU enabled.

Not sure anymore but out of curiosity could you try your usual settings but just with a 6k bitrate from gaming -> streaming pc.

In general I would highly recommend using NDI+OBS on streaming PC which makes it way easier.

I can try the 6k bitrate. I might have already done this. I've tried so many things it's hard to keep track of the changes and such.

I tried using NDI+OBS apparently AMD phenom II x4 960t and many others in that series do not support NDI and it doesn't seem they ever will.

make sure u ping test that each adapter receives the 9kb packet ok, on linux u have much higher jumbo packet then 9k. but 9k is good. use 9014 here.

Ok so...here are the results...

Gaming PC Nvenc 1080p30/60 > Stream PC FFmpeg 720p30/60 works
Gaming PC x264 1080p30 > Stream PC FFmpeg 1080p30 works
Gaming PC Nvenc 720p30/60 > Stream PC FFmpeg 720p30/60 works
Gaming PC Nvenc 1080p30/60 > Stream PC FFmpeg 1080p30/60 does not work

The last result is obviously the issue we have been trying to tackle. I'm a little confused by the results. Is it possibly related to preset or buffer size of Nvenc 1080p?

I played with some of the presets. Nvenc low latency high performance and FFmpeg on ultrafast. Still doesn't work. It seems that my Stream PC FFmpeg just doesn't like pushing 1080p when the source is Nvenc. I'm thoroughly confused because Stream PC FFmpeg will push 1080 when x264 is the source and will push 720 when Nvenc is the source but not 1080 when Nvenc is the source.

U just have to work at it, took me a long time to fix most of my issues, im now mostly bandwidth constrained to what effects game ping. If u have fibre connection 1080p can be doable, otherwise 720p works great.

I see you'r streaming LoL, unless someone else has the same nick. with such a slow game, you shouldnt be having any such problems u experience. I still believe ur problem mainly lies with the nic window size.
Read and research more. You'll get there.

I'm streaming league, total war warhammer, xcom and cities skylines. Surprisingly most of my issues arise when I'm streaming league. I moved to Nvenc encoding because warhammer and skylines use soooooooooo much CPU I was trying to increase performance. Surprisingly, I'm getting better fps in league now that I've moved to x264 encoding at 25000 bitrate and my Stream PC FFmpeg is pushing it at 1080p60.

When I enable 9kb MTU jumbo packets the stream started to stutter so I switched it back to disabled. I'll enable it again and give it one more shot. What else can I do to play with the nic window size?

So...

Gaming PC Nvenc 1080p60 > Stream PC FFmpeg 1080p60 working!

I changed the preset in FFmpeg to superfast. I did an hour long test stream. I'm not getting any artifacting, dropped frames, lag, disconnects, etc. I do notice a significant difference in quality from veryfast to superfast. I think having to move from veryfast to superfast is related to the latency argument that vapeahoy was making.

Now that I have working settings for 720p30/60 and 1080p30/60, I can definitely see the argument that many make that 720p60 with good settings is better than 1080p30 and even 1080p60 with bad settings. When I upgrade my gaming PC I'll be able to use this fx 8350 to stream instead of the phenom II 960t which should be a nice and noticeable upgrade.

I'm just happy that it works. I'm so glad to finally get to the bottom of these tech issues that I have been experiencing for sooooooooo long. Thank you for all the help vapeahoy!
