Question / Help NVENC at 60 fps 1080p for local recordings: Is it even possible?

I've got 3770k, 16GB, titan

I was testing different presets and settings and I just couldn't record(not stream, local files) GTAV( I haven't tried other games yet) at 60 fps.
There were too many dropped frames. I tried changing priority but it didn't help

Could you share your settings for recording high quality videos at 60 fps using nvenc?

PS shadowplay does the job just fine but I don't like using it, it's too limited.

PPS What preset is better quality wise - High Quality or Bluray Disc?

it seems I haven't tried all presets..

High Quality and Bluray can't handle 60 fps, however NVdefault seems to work more or less fine (Total frames encoded: 4260, total frames duplicated: 223 (5.23%)

I guess I should try other presets coz 5% is a bit much

What I was meaning is that it could be driver related...

It works.

Also, please note: your GPU needs to have some available power to it. If you are using NVENC and your GPU is at 99% in GTA 5, you're gonna drop frames in OBS. I usually record at 1080/60 with "high quality" using shadowplay in various other games.

If you are doing local recordings with "unlimted" bitrate, pick one of the faster presets, not the ones that aim for highquality/compression. it should output large files with good quality, but it should work for 1080/60.

Shadowplay manages to handle gtav and other games at high preset and 60 fps .. But if Im not mistaken it utilizes a special chip designed for encoding

"unlimted" bitrate

Nah not unlimited. I set QF=10 and bitrate to 100000 max.

Anyways, I managed to get a smooth recording by using High Performance preset.

Thanx guys.

Its because your Titan is a previous-gen chip. They don't do well with High Quality presets. If you get a current-gen Nvidia GPU then it'll be able to use the HQ NVEnc preset. But that's really no reason to buy a new GPU imo, High Performance with a bit higher bitrate is fine for local recording.
