Question / Help NVEC Bframes problem (Bug or Intended)

Hi folks,

I have tested NVEC feature on Nvidia 970 GTX and RTX 2080Ti using OBS for streaming and recording. If I stream / record using GTX 970 NVEC doesn't provide mode than "2" bframes even if I select "4". However RTX 2080Ti provides "4" bframes for both streaming and recording. GPU utilization on GTX 970 even doesn't hit 20% during recording. Is this intended by OBS or it's a bug?

Any ideas?

take a look at the setting, its "max bframes", not... use this many.

Your system will determine the number of them to use. I use x264 encode and have bframes set to 50. it only ever places at max 16 in a row. but usually below 6-8

FYI, I aked the other day why this is limited to 4... and well I want to test using 50-60 but guess it would need to be a manual alteration to the OBS installer to get that to work. but may also just be a limitation of the NVENC encoder, I do not know.

Thanks. However, it doesn't make sense while my total GPU utilization is 20% at my streaming rig. I use NVEC for recording purposes only.

I believe Nvidia tells me to go and buy a new RTX buble gum. Wink wink...
