Question / Help Not streaming in HD?

YouTube takes time to process videos, and starts at the lowest resolution first. Give it an hour or two for the processing to complete, and check back again.

Yea, I'm aware of the delay. That's not the case. I have videos that are weeks old now and never went HD. I suspect they weren't recorded in HD.

Your settings from the log indicate you're streaming at 600p, after a downscale. What is the max resolution available you're seeing on Youtube? 'HD' is a meaningless term, more interested in brass tacks resolutions.

It's only giving me 480 on youtube.

I see where you're getting the 600p now.

  1. Base resolution: 1440x900
  2. Output resolution: 960x600
What do I need to do about this?

Not sure... maybe contact YouTube and ask about it? I know they support 600p video, or at least used to. Are you recording your stream locally and editing/uploading, or exporting/uploading highlights from Twitch? Possible in the latter case something might have broken with the export process (again) and they may not be exporting 600p video.

Try recording a quick vid to local disk, upload it to YT and see if it shows up as 600p after the usual processing delay.

Well I don't want 600p :p
I'm wanting to stream at 720+
I just installed the OBS Studio(upgrade from classic) and I see the option to set my output resolution. I'm going to change it to 1152x720 with a 3100 bitrate and hope that records in HD.
Thanks!

Well, good luck with that. Be aware that at bitrates above 2000kbps, many viewers on Twitch will buffer badly. 720p@30fps, 2000kbps on x264 Veryfast or lower is the 'golden point' for non-partnered streamers.

Also, good luck with OBS Studio. It's a rewrite of the codebase, and isn't really an upgrade at this point as it's missing quite a few features, and the UI is pretty horrible from a usability standpoint.
