Not recording audio from camcorder through capture device

Bear with me as I'm new to this, but I am struggling to get audio recording on the videos I am trying to digitize. I am using a Sony CCD-FX630 camcorder and a USB video adapter to convert 8mm video tapes. I added the video input and audio input to my sources and selected the USB and the audio is playing through my desktop speakers. After recording, there is no audio accompanying the video when viewing in windows media player. Is there a setting or something that I'm missing. I've tried to scour through forums for solutions to this but every remedy I've seen suggested bears no fruit for me.

I’m having trouble getting audio to record while digitizing my 8mm tapes. I’m using a Sony CCD-FX630 camcorder with a USB video adapter. The video comes through fine, and I can even hear the audio playing through my desktop speakers during recording. But once I save and play back the file in Windows Media Player, there’s no audio track. I’ve checked the input sources and tried different settings, but nothing seems to work. Has anyone else run into this issue or know what specific setting I might be missing?

Help, I am having the same issue.
Please be very specific when trying to explain things to me as this is not something I have done before or a language I speak.

I am trying to digitize Mini DV from an old JVC GR-DVL520 Camcorder. Its from early 2000's.
I have an AV cable with RCA plug connecting my camcorder to Yitrox AV HDMI converter. There is a HDMI cable connecting the converter to Elgato HD 60 x then a HDMI connecting the Elgato to my PC.

There is no issue with audio when the tape is being played in the camcorder and connecting it to the TV. There is no sound when everything is connected and I try to record the DV. There is also no sound when I check the file that was recorded.
