Question / Help Not able to preview or see a stream (black screen)

Greetings!

I am trying to set up obs to stream Battlefield 3 to my twitch account and its not letting me.
I am able to see the preview (and stream it) via software capture but that only works in windowed mode. Someone told me (and correct me if I am wrong) but game capture will cause less of a draw (less fps drop) on my computer then software capture which is why I am trying to figure out why Game Capture isn't working. I set up obs as the guides have said and searched for any answers that may have helped but so far nothing has helped.
Do you guys (and gals) have any thoughts or suggestions? (apologies in advance if I am posting this in the wrong place or missed some info in my search)

well, monitor capture is almost just as fast you have to enable aero when using it though. the 64bit version will make the difference basically non existent.

if you still really wanna use game capture though make sure to run the game in full screen and untick any obs sources that you're not using. then the image will only show up when you switch back to the game and start playing for a few seconds.

if that still doesn't help post the content from this file %appdata%\obs\pluginData\captureHookLog.txt

Software capture doesn't work on fullscreen games because of how fullscreen works, hence why you would need to use game captures.

Your logs show you have five game captures in your scene, which really shouldn't ever be the case.

ran it fullscreen mode (and obs as admin). Only Source (ticked or not) was Game Capture (pointed to bf3)

for the appdata you requested all it said was this: D3D11 Present

The five game captures was my attempt of trying new sources every time I changed something.

try it again, then post the file %appdata%\obs\pluginData\captureHookLog.txt here. also, try the latest test build

also i should add that sound works. It shows sounds being picked up and you can hear sounds over the stream.

edit trying latest test build and then will post appdata file.

Running latest test build. Same thing as before. No preview but sounds came through and was passed on to twitch where it was just a black screen and sound.

what do you mean by this? I do run sweetfx for color. but other then that nothing, besides the patches that ea pushes out.

hmm well, disable/delete/ put back anyfiles that it changes in the game or it's directory i have heard alot about game capture not working because of these kind of enhancers.

also what other programs do you run during streaming ?

Game graphical mods will most likely interfere with game capture still. Might have to disable or possibly even them for the time being.

Tested without the color mod and same issues as before.

Nothing but blackscreen in preview or streaming via game capture but sound does come through.

While testing nothing else was open cept obs and bf3.

Did you just disable the mod or did you actually remove files that it installed, specifically D3D9.dll?
