Question / Help Noobie Partial Screen Display Question

Wow!

Thank you, everybody who is involved in the development of this amazing software:

I'm want to twitch a video game, World of Tanks.

Following Twitch instructions last night, it worked! Did I say THANK YOU?

But today, nothing. I must have neglected to save my setup because OBS didn't have anything saved.

So I went through the setup, as described on Twitch, but the preview and a Twitch session only show about 2/3 of the width and height of the display.

The first attachment is a sceenshot.

The second attachment is a log.

I had this problem last night for a while, I'm not sure what I did that made it go away.

I was surprised to find that the external monitor I was using on my nice 17" 1080P lap top is only 1050 X 1680. But the part of the screen that displays is the upper left portion of the external monitor.

My laptop has two graphics processors, the i7's internal 4600 unit and an Nvidia GeForce 880M. I'm using the GeForce GPU for the game. I'm wondering if I should select Quick Sync to use the i7's GPU and take that burden off of the GeForce GPU which is already busy with the video game.

Can you tell from the log how hard streaming is pushing my PC?

Anyway, what a sweet program. Thanks to all involved.

Larry

Hi Larry. I personally have come across this myself, and I think I have found a... "Viable" solution to this.

STEP 1:

All I did was right click your SOURCE game (This could be any game, for you this would be "World of Tanks" REFER TO Pic 1) and then click "Properties".

STEP 2:

Make sure that "Stretch Image To Screen" and "Ignore Aspect Ratio" are both TICKED (Refer to Pic 2)
Then click "OK"

STEP 3:

This is the final step. You should be done, but with running the game on maximum resolution, this is going to lag up your game, and your stream. Move on to Step 4 if you wish to know how to fix the lag.

STEP 4:

First of all, click "Settings" (Pic 3) and go to the "Encoding" tab (Pic 4).

STEP 5:

Turn off "Use CBR", and then set the quality to 4 - 6 (Pic 5). You can change between 4,5, and 6 if you need to. All this will do is effect the quality of your stream. Then turn on "Use CBR".

STEP 6:

Change your Bitrate. Now this is the funky part. Go to "speedtest.net" to test your internet connection. What you're looking for is your UPLOAD speed. EXAMPLE: If your upload speed is 4MB, put your Bitrate to HALF of that (2000KB) <- Because this is measured in KB, 1000KB = 1 MB. You do the math. (Refer to Pic 5 again)

STEP 7:

Go to the "Advanced" tab, and set the Priority class to "High" (Pic 6). All this will do, is tell your computer that the livestreaming software (OBS) is a TOP PRIORITY and should be dealt with first. This will improve the speed of encoding of your stream. ALSO: Make sure that ALL UNUSED BACKGROUND PROCESSES ARE ENDED.

STEP 8:

Open up Task Manager on your computer (To access Task Manager, press your start button and search it up.)
I have Windows 7, and you have Windows 8, so this might be a little bit different for you.
Go to your "Processes" tab, and find your game(Pic 7) (You want your game running in the background for this. This should be the name of your game, NOTE: You have to do this EVERY TIME YOU STREAM ANY GAME.)

STEP 9:

Right click it, and hover over priorities, and set it to "Above Normal". NOTE: This could heat up your CPU a little bit, make sure your CPU can handle this.

STEP 10:

Enjoy! I hoped this helped. And Btw - If you want to test your stream, make sure your game SCENE is highlighted, and then click "Preview Stream". If it turns out a black screen, just go in to your game, and then tab out again. It SHOULD fill up the entire "Mini Screen".

Thanks Hotfast:

I had this problem, only a little more than a quarter of the upper left screen being displayed in the preview and on Twitch, two days ago, when I first installed OPS. Trying this and trying that seems to have gotten it to work.

This morning, after reading your post I decided to give it one more shot before implementing your suggestions.

It works! I didn't change a thing, but I now have a full screen.

I appreciate your effort to assist me.
