Question / Help Non-Stop Dropped Frames While RECORDING

I exclusively record with obs. I ONLY record and never have to stream so I don't know where to get this info. I wish to stop my videos from dropping frames. I only see people talking about streaming settings when it comes to dropped frames. I need recording settings. When I play Apex, no lag is visible to me while recording. Clear 60 fps gameplay. Nothing wrong. In the video file after filming, however, I constantly see frame dropping when an intense battle breaks out or something that takes a lot of work occurs. I wish to record 1080p at 60 frames. You can check my encoder and other settings I have to work with in the photo below. Thanks a million, homies.

  • Deactivate "Rescale Output" in the encoder settings. If you need your output be a different resolution than the canvas, set the output resolution in settings->Video instead. This gives you a performance boost.
  • Instead of CBR, use CQP for recording and a CQP value of about 15-25 (lower values give higher quality). This doesn't affect performance but enhances quality. CBR is a rate control for streaming.
  • Disable Windows Game Mode.

Changed the settings listed. Did nearly nothing. Not sure what else could be the cause... I don't have a terrible computer or anything...

Do a recording and then upload a log file :) then we'll be able to see whats going on

Apex is notorious for render lag. Your log file will prove if this is the cause of the stutter.

What you need to do, is find a way to not cap out your graphics card while playing Apex. Try lowering your monitor's frame rate in Windows, then enable V-Sync in Apex. If that hasn't fixed it, lower all the graphics settings. Try use an app that will display your frame rate in-game. You need to make sure it's capped at a number you set it, or that your graphics card can go way past 144 in-game.
